Brief Overview

Gum turpentine oil is a natural liquid obtained from the distillation of resin or gum extracted from pine trees. It possesses a complex composition comprising various terpenes, such as pinene, camphene, and limonene. Unlike its more refined counterpart, turpentine oil, gum turpentine retains a raw and unprocessed quality, often containing heavier fractions and natural resins and gums present in the original pine tree extract.

Manufacturing Process

Turpentine oil is produced from Pine Tree. The resins are collected, and then it is sent to a factory where it is melted. Further distillation and condensation yield turpentine oil.

Pine Tree -> Sap Collection -> Fresh resins -> Steam boiler to melt resins -> Distillation of resin -> Condensation of volatile compounds -> Turpentine Oil

Found in products like paint thinners and brush cleaners, gum turpentine oil acts as a potent solvent for the removal of paint, grease, and other substances from surfaces and tools.

Agricultural Applications:

Used in the formulation of certain pesticides, gum turpentine oil plays a role in the agricultural sector for pest control purposes.

Rubber Industry:

Employed as a softening agent in the rubber industry, gum turpentine oil aids in the processing and molding of rubber compounds.
