Dipropylene glycol (also known as oyybispropanol, 2,2-dihydroxyisopropylether, 1,1-oxydipropane-2-ol, di-1,2-propylene glycol, and DPG) is a transparent, colorless, viscous liquid with the formula C6H14O3 and an unique odor. It is completely miscible in water and a variety of organic solvents. DPG is a compound that is very useful as a reactive intermediate in a variety of industries due to its solvency, low toxicity, and low evaporation rate.
Food Industry
In food processing, dipotassium phosphate is used as a food additive to lower acid levels. Dipotassium phosphate can also be a stabilizer in non-dairy creamer and energy drinks. In dairy products, dipotassium phosphate is a buffering agent, sequestrant, and emulsifier. Dipotassium Phosphate is also applied in coffee, creamer, and meat processing.
Agricultural Industry
Dipotassium phosphate enhances plant nutrition and is safe to be used in irrigation and spraying systems. Dipotassium phosphate can be mixed with all water-soluble fertilizers except calcium and magnesium, as their phosphates are insoluble in water and will be precipitated.
