Brief Overview
Camphene is a transparent liquid obtained from camphor oil or synthesized from turpentine. It is a member of the class of compound known as bicyclic monoterpenoids. It has 2 rings fused to each other. When burned, it produces a brilliant light but generates smoke and is also potentially explosive.
Manufacturing process
Camphene is prepared by distilling turpentine in the presence of quicklime to give rise to purified spirit of turpentine, which is camphene.

Camphene is used as a solvent in paints, varnishes and perfumes.
